On July 8, 2006 at aproximateley 11:40 AM, tandem paragliding instructor John Van Meter and passenger / student Travis Kovet launched from the pad at Slide mountain. Details are still sketchy, but what is known for sure is that they spun back into the hill shortly after launching. Jon died on impact. Travis was airlifted and died after arriving at the hospital. Our hearts and prayers go out to both families. Both John and Travis will be sorely missed.
